First class - Sept 13, 2008

Teacher is Naito Noriko.

The text is Japanese for Busy People I. I strongly recommend you get the Kana version if you haven't bought it yet. It might seem like it makes sense to get the romaji because it's easier to understand. But once you know your hiragana and katakana, you start to resent still having to read romaji when you'd rather be practicing reading Japanese.

This first class was all review, of course. Hopefully all things we know but might need a bit of a refresher on. I'm going to keep all of the specific sections in separate documents and keep updating (like Kanji, vocabulary, etc.).

Topics covered:

  • Telling time
  • Telling the date
    • きょは9がつ12にちです。
  • Relative dates

  • Days of the week
  • Days of the month (1-10 + 20)
  • Counting words
